For those of you wondering whether Nagesh Kukunoor took a leaf out of A.R. Murugadoss’s ‘Ghajini’ when directing 8x10 Tasveer, Akshay Kumar has this to say: “One shot, where I am doing like this (looking grim and baring his teeth ) is probably the only thing which is similar between both the films!”

‘Tasveer’ is a supernatural thriller to its core, where ‘Ghajini’ was more action oriented. Most of the movie was shot in Canada, and Akshay has deviated from his usual roles by playing a sensitive young man with a psychic ability that allows him to see into the past. The actor claims that he’s very happy that he tried his hand at portraying a different role, and hopes that the movie will be well received.

The movie features a stellar star cast including Ayesha Takia, Sharmila Tagore, Girish Karnad and Javed Jaffrey. Where Akshay is full of praise for Takia’s consummate professionalism, director Kukunoor is glad he got to work with his childhood idol, Sharmila Tagore. As for the premise of the movie, Kukunoor says that he got his idea when lying in bed one day and staring at a 8x10 picture. The film was written almost 5-years-ago, and took the right cast and crew to make it happen.

So, all comparisons aside, the crew and cast of ‘Tasveer’ hope that this movie will be a shot in the arm during this recession.
